- Meet in Tecate, where we’ll kick off our adventure by taking the scenic Compadre Trail down to Valle de Trinidad. - Enjoy an unforgettable taco lunch in the valley before heading west on the crossover road to the coast. - Arrive at Cuatro Casas Hostel for check-in and unwind with a surf and turf dinner featuring lobster and steak.
Wake up to the peaceful sounds of waves crashing against the rocks below, with a breathtaking late fall sunrise over the Pacific. - Start the day with Richard’s famous huevos rancheros and freshly brewed coffee. - Head out a few hundred yards from Cuatro Casas to watch the race. - For lunch, we’ll serve Trailside Carne Asada tacos while enjoying the thrill of the race. - After the race, we’ll visit a local village for dinner at Baja Desert Restaurant, savoring authentic regional cuisine.
After breakfast at Cuatro Casas, we’ll embark on an off-road adventure through San Rafael Canyon, one of our favorite trails. - This trail offers a mix of terrain, including farmland, stream crossings, and a hill climb with sweeping views. - We’ll navigate a small "gatekeeper" slot canyon before ascending to higher elevations. - Our lunch stop will be at the rustic Rancho El Coyote, where we’ll enjoy a family-style meal in an authentic ranch setting. - After lunch, we’ll visit Baja Dog Rescue, bringing dog food donations and spending time with the pups (maybe someone will adopt one!). - Then, we’ll make a quick off-road run to the Pirate Bar for a late-afternoon margarita and snacks. Those who are still hungry can grab a bite, but it’s more of a snack stop after all the food we’ve enjoyed. - We’ll finish the day with a night run along the coast back to Cuatro Casas for a campfire and a classic “bench racing” session.
After breakfast, we’ll pack up and hit the road, heading back home with plenty of memories and stories from an unforgettable weekend.
